Goodbye 3D art...

Fri Jun 8, 2007, 11:39 AM

  • Listening to: The sound of my crying
I got the most devastating news today even tho a part of me expected it already for quite some time, actually hearing it breaks my heart. You may have noticed that I haven't done anything 3D in quite some time, that has a reason.

A few months ago, I got my own computer and decided to transfer all my material from my dad's computer over to mine. To do that I used the external Hard Drive my brother gave me. Around 2 weeks ago I wanted to do some artwork again and so tried to put everything on my new comp. But for some reason I always got an error message saying that the files could not be opened or read. I checked the properties of the files and they all came down on size: 1kb.

I started panicking and called a good friend of mine that works in the IT to ask his advice. He just said he couldn't say what was wrong on the phone and would come to pick the driver up the next morning. He did add that I had to prepare myself for the fact that he wouldn't be able to retrieve anything from it. So for the past 2 weeks I've been hoping that he would be able to retrieve some files...

Yet a few hours ago he called me to say that he was sorry, but he had been unable to find anything back. Knowing that everything was on that drive (unfinished pieces, texture sets I was making, source data files) I just don't have the courage to start gathering everything back from scratch. Cause getting all that stuff together took me over a year. It's even no use to try to get it back from my dad's computer, cause that one has been cleaned completely and there is no trace of anything on it.

I guess I might start searching later, but right now I just feel it's no use cause I'll probably won't be able to find half of it again.

So in a way this is a thank you to all the people here that supported my work while stumbling through the process of learning 3D art.
